The Challenge: The Complexity of Technology Assignment

Despite these advancements, a hurdle remains. For many producers, identifying and accessing the exact technological configuration needed for a specific bulky part is cumbersome. The manufacturing of these components often relies on rigid supply chains and a "trust-based" relationship between customer and supplier that limits flexibility. How do we ensure that a manufacturer, regardless of their size, can utilize the best damping device or the most efficient strategy at the exact moment they need it?

REED Project: The MaaS Milestone

This is where the REED Project (Responsive and Reconfigurable Value Network for the Manufacture of Bulky Parts) enters the stage. Showcased at BIEMH 2026, REED represents the next frontier: Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS). The REED platform aims to "democratize" Soraluce’s technological expertise by creating a networked digital model where:

  • Servitization of Assets: Specialized solutions, such as workpiece setup optimization and active damping, are shared as services.
  • Digital Twins & AI: Real-time simulations and AI-driven decision tools help optimize production management and process execution.
  • Sustainability & Traceability: Integrated tools like the Digital Product Passport (DPP) ensure that high-quality production is also environmentally responsible.

A Future Built on Collaboration

The feedback received during BIEMH 2026 has been overwhelming. Fruitful conversations with both customers and suppliers have confirmed a deep industry interest in the REED project’s vision. There is a clear appetite for a move away from rigid, experience-based decision-making toward a model-based, collaborative approach that allows for rapid reconfiguration of supply chains. By integrating our current technological mastery into a MaaS platform, we are not just selling machines; we are providing a flexible, automated ecosystem where the best solutions for productivity and automation are available to every player in the value chain. The journey towards responsive manufacturing for large-scale parts has just reached a new height. We invite partners and customers to join us in exploring these new collaborative opportunities!
